Words are Powerful
Working in pro-life ministry, I find that people place themselves in one of two categories: pro-life or pro-choice. I seldom hear someone say that they are “pro-abortion”. Whenever someone says they are pro-choice, I ask them to define what that means to them and this is the typical response: “Being pro-choice means that I personally would not have an abortion but I feel that other people should have the right to choose for themselves what is best for them based on their circumstances.” My response is always, “So you are pro-abortion.”
It is only logical that being “for” something mean that you endorse it whether for yourself or someone else. The word abortion has been replaced with the more palatable word, CHOICE. Being pro-abortion means being for the termination of an unborn child but replace the word abortion with choice and it means empowering women.
Pro-abortion advocates refer to pro-life advocates as “anti” and themselves as “pro” because there is a negative and positive “feeling” associated with both. Getting past all the rhetoric and word deception; none of us have the right to choose anything we want especially when our choices affect other people. No one has the right to take innocent lives and abortion takes the lives of the most innocent human beings among us. There is nothing “pro” about that!
